“Creating the promise of a great experience” is how John Alvin describes his role as the pre-eminent designer and illustrator of cinema art. John Alvin contributed tothe success of manyDisney animated classics, includingThe Lion King. Disney commented that “Alvin brings emotion into his artwork that can only be captured in an illustration. We call it Alvinizing”.
This beautiful fine art giclee on canvas is limited to just 70 pieces worldwide, in commemoration of its release for the 70th Anniversary of Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs. The canvas is ready to hang with complimentary stretcher framing. All Disney Fine Art comes complete with a detailed Certificate of Authenticity and each piece is individually hand-numbered and signed by the artist.
In this piece, Alvin describes that he “sought to offer the full range of emotions, and the extreme contrast between good and evil that we experience throughout the story of Snow White”. “From her own endearing magnetism to which everyone in the forest responds, to her innocent and lovely dreams of future romance, we are reminded of her world by beautiful and inviting colours and tones. However, we can see what she cannot – in the form and presence of the evil power which would deliberately subdue, and even destroy, her wonderful purity. As in the film, we know that she does not. We see the danger that she cannot sense. It is as much a depiction of Snow White’s enduring innocence as a reflection of the Queen’s obsessive and destructive jealousy. Even the distant shard of lightning foretells of darker things to come before we can enjoy our happy ending”.
