Tim Rogerson - Strings of Temptation - Pinocchio
Description
“I
never get ideas sitting behind a blank canvas and thinking of what to
paint. My ideas come from outside, experiencing life, by going places
and meeting people.”
Pinocchio was the second animated feature after Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. But unlike Snow White, Pinocchio was not a financial success when originally released. Produced at a total loss of $2.3m, Disney had recouped only $1.4m of the film's cost by 1947. The film's release in Europe and Asia was delayed because of World War II, which greatly contributed to its poor financial performance. Who would have thought it would go on to become one of the most loved and cherished animated classics of all time?
Despite all of this, Pinocchio has withstood the test of time and has become a true Disney masterpiece. In Strings of Temptation, Tim Rogerson uses his own signature style to pay homage to this epic tale of a little wooden boy and his quest to become real. By shattering the narrative and re-arranging all of the story's diverse sections on canvas, Rogerson is able to re-tell this amazing story in his own modern and cubist-like way.
