Released in 1942, Bambi is the fifth animated feature to come out of the Walt Disney Studios. It premiered to international acclaim and, in 2008, was voted the 3rd best animated feature of all time by the American Film Institute. Jim Salvati's artwork depicts Bambi and Thumper's very first meeting. The scene is lit tactfully, shadowing the outlying forest in muted dark tones in order to keep with the feelings of uncertainty that Bambi is experiencing after his Mother's death. But centrally, the colours are warm and inviting - they are relaxingly tranquil, fitting perfectly with the beautiful friendship growing between these two lovable creatures.
